  • Who are we?

    TILE is a non-profit organization focused on hosting student-run conversation series with innovators and leaders. Our goal is to inspire the use of innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship as a force for good, and the TILE Kirkland chapters strives to present speakers who reflect the pinnacle of ethical and thoughtful behavior.

    Dr. Jim Olson

    Founder of Blaze Bioscience

    Dr. Olson is the head of Seattle based of Blaze Biosciences, one of the world leading cancer research groups in the world, and you may have heard of him from the Wired story in 2014 focusing on his tumor paint.

    Thomas Schaefer

    Content Coordinator

    Thomas Schaefer leads the Speaker and Content team for TILE^Kirkland, and is entering his senior year at Eastside Prep. Interested in markets and economics, he has interned at Steelhead Partners as well as the Vanderbilt Endowment. Thomas will be studying at Duke University and is hoping to study Math and Economics.

    Maja Johnson

    Logistic Coordinator

    Maja Johnson is the head of logistics for the TILE^Kirkland chapter. As a rising senior at Eastside Prep with an interest in biology, she is also heavily involved in student government and on the volleyball and ultimate frisbee team.

    Drew Medway

    Head of Marketing

    Drew Medway is a senior at Eastside Preparatory School, and is Co-Founder of TILE^Kirkland, overseeing marketing and media strategies. Interested in economics, he has completed Yale's YYGS program and written for political science journals. Drew will be attending Yale and plans to study Economics.
